A very special tasting evening with two international guests!

We don't normally do tastings on a Wednesday but we had to make an exception for these two special guests:
  • Sam Lambson from Minimalist wines
  • Shelley Sandell from Tierhoek wine makers

Both hail from South Africa, with stories every bit as compelling as their wines. Read on below for more about their backgrounds.

They will guide you through a selection of SEVEN of their wonderful wines. Wines they made themselves from their own vineyards - a rare occasion in the North East to experience this level of insight and interaction with the people closest to the grape.

Shelley Sandell — Tierhoek (Piekenierskloof)
Owner of a 138 year old vineyard - one of the Cape’s most remote, high-altitude farms. Shelley champions old vines (some 30-50 years old). Expect the lowdown on Tierhoek’s flagship Chenin Blanc and Straw Wine, both marrying intense fruit with classic Piekenierskloof freshness.

Sam Lambson — Minimalist Wines
Launched Minimalist at just 21 while studying oenology (I also told my parents I was "studying wine" very hard whilst 21 and at university, but for very different reasons). Recognised as a leading cool-climate Syrah specialist, expect to taste the cult "Stars in the Dark" (early releases sold out and drew major critic attention) plus "Beyond Stars" micro-releases - anything from Grenache to Riesling to Cabernet. 

Tickets are £45, including seven different glasses of wine and endless stories surrounding their creation.

Arrive at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

All events are pre- payable and non-refundable.  Where advance notice is given (at least 7 days) and we are able to re-sell the tickets a refund may be issued, minus a £5 administration fee, if the event was sold out. 

Simply show your email confirmation on the night, no need to collect anything from the bar.
